Complete bike picture in first post!

Update 21 June 2011

Here is the first picture of the complete bike. I rode with it today at the demo and I must say I like it really well. Very stable, very predictable, the rear brake is very stiff without brake booster. I feel I am already used to it.

Thanks!

Looks cool man.

The BB rise would be too much for me but I like that you're experimenting with geo.

Out of interest, whats the weight? Guess it can't be that light?

The complete weight is 9,2 kilos. Frame alone is 2,110 kilos. The BB is +82. Wheelbase is 1088; chainstay length is 378 and head angle is 72. I will measure the reach later on.

Bloody love it, like i said on FB it looks brilliant! :)

Thanks mate

Yes but I think it will be interesting for him to learn welding alloy because he makes a lot of frames.

There's also the increased cost of materials, welding plant and being able to get the frame suitable heat treated.

Not really as viable to set up with minimal resources and cash to put into it. So yes may be interesting, but not really viable.

Have you ever ridden one of your mate's Sky 2 ? If yes what's the differences between the two geo (in terms of feeling and movements) ?

And why doesn't Marino make alloy frame ?

It is the same except it is a bit more nervous because of the higher bb. I don't why but it feels much easier to tap with the Marino than with my coach's sky 2... This bike is quite nice. But once again I have only been riding it once!

The lines on this beauty look so damn clean.

Thanks man

Normally the cost of ally is actually relatively low compared to steel, whereas the cost of a DC TIG compared to an AC/DC Tig machine is normally around double.

I think the main reason he dosent deal with ally would be the heat treatment/skills side of it more than costs, it can take years to get to a decent standard on a TIG with ally, dependant on the person ofcourse.

Bike looks awesome btw, may have to try a high BB setup pretty soon.

Whats it like riding with a mod stem on there?

Cheers,

Josh.

We have just been talking for quite a long time and he is thinking of making alloy frames next year. You shall see but I will discuss with him about it! Loads of investments to be made in orde to make this move!

The mod stem is awesome for static moves and it also makes you position better on the bike. It makes your bike feel like a giant mod basically! I love it!

Don't worry it's not your fault :P

Bike looks fantastic though :)

Hehe Thanks mate. It's pretty difficult to ride by 40°C at 11 am but I have a 4 hour training tonight and it will be the 10th time I ride it. I like it really much now. I just skipped back to trialtech foam grips because the chorillas ones hurt so much. These tires are awesome. The bike itself is very stable on obstacles on both wheels and even more on the rear wheel. I am now going on obstacles I have been working on for a long time easier than I have ever been. The shorter wheelbase really helps on taps as it is easier to keep rear wheel position when you tap 1m20 or more. Right now I have been training on a lot of street obstacles to get my techniques dialled but I will ride natty this evening so we'll see how it goes. Right now I have to wash it and do some maintenance. I also have a demo on three days soon so that should really get me used to the bike.

I mean this in the least aggravational manner, honest. For someone who has a trials coach, and buys more frames than I do hot dinners, where the hell is all your media? If you're spending cash on 'training' and components, wouldn't you want to get some videos out and see what people think? Bike looks nice, but let's see how amazingly you no doubt ride it!

I don't pay my coach, he wanted to coach me. He is in the association I am in. I should probably do some video, I sometimes post clip on facebook, but I didn't in a long time. I honestly don't ride to get any sign of gratitude, only because I don't know what I would do if I didn't... I'll try to make one if you want one so much. I don't think my coach will want to film me though so I'll have to try something.
