Topsy
I got pretty confused as I found some saying that they were made for brake use. Well, only the colour on the sidewalls will come off and not everything I'd love to run it brakeless though..
Leistonbmx
Made for brake use will mean it has a sidewall. You can use a brake on any rim, even if it is "only for brakeless use". Just means your pads will not wear flat and braking isn't as good. You can also tell by looking at the rim if it has a sidewall or not. Or atleast I'd hope you could. Ride it brakeless then? It's your bike do whatever you want with it.
eskimo
There's probably some info on the web saying chrome rims are designed for brakes and sprayed rims are not, despite it being the same rim. Unless you get chrome or raw/polished you'll always end up with the aluminium colour appearing through. Despite what pads or rim it is, it'll happen sometime. Even chrome rims have a life expectancy on the sidewalls with brakes.
Topsy
I've finally ordered everything just have one small problem.. I got the Bsd back street hub, but it turns out that the shop ordered a 10mm axle version instead of a 14mm and sold it to me "matching my frame" (which ofcourse has 14mm dropouts. They told me to get a pair of spacers.. The spacers are much too loose an the axle and in the dropouts, and barely broad enough to cover half the broadness of the dropouts. Plus the higher wall (in picture) of them comes up inbetween the frame and the bolts, giving me the feeling that I can't tighten the bolts very well. Now, is it possible to change the axle of the hub to a 14mm male? Because the axle is actually a 14mm up to where the bolts screw in... Yes, I would give the hub back, if it would not have been the last one they had and ordering one would make me have to wait untill summer, because they cant be bothered ordering now ("too much hassle" or something. Matt Vandart
gays, I would take it back out of principal, at the end of the day you can get any hub you want off of the internet
Topsy
What I'll probably have to do.. But I have yet to find a shop which sells the hub and is allowed to ship to switzerland. -.- (A lot of shops only ship to Eu countrys) That's why I thought switching the axle might be easier in a way
