Crazy Drummer
Hi guys I was thinking today what kind of rotor gives the best performance from a disc brake? e.g. Solid rotors, Floating rotor, ones with large cut-outs, small cut-outs, lots of holes, no holes. what do you all think ? ? ? Carl-H
Not sure on trials bikes but on motorbikes I know know what I like. My husaberg (supermoto) has a 6 pot beringer front caliper with a solid cast iron disc. Compared to other setups this one is amazing! One finger on the brake at 90 and your on the front wheel. Best brake I've ever used. But the main reason for holes is to remove water I think? And to clean the pads in dirt/dust? In the wet the bringer has a delay of around a second ish as you get on the brake if you haven't used it for a few minutes. Quite strange to get used to. But in trials you need a good hold, so I'm thinking a solid disc may not work as well then? Iron discs are a he'll if a lot better than stainless though, apart from rusting but that's normally the sign of a good disc.
BradJohnson
Surely the bigger the better because the bigger surface the more for the pads to grip onto
Tioz
Mainly rotor diameter..a bigger one has a lever advantage over a smaller one
Laurence--Trials
More holes = less hold, more bite Less holes = more hold, less bite

eod
For God's sake, don't get Roundagons or anything like them. G2s and G3s are good.
