piperfraz
Hi, I recently got a new star nut fitted and am now trying to put my bike back together at the front end but it doesn't seem to be going to plan... No matter how much i tighten the headset it doesn't seem to be tight when i ride it... Does anyone know what's wrong with my headset? Cheers, Fraser. Mikee
First things I would check is it the top cap was hitting the steerer tube which will stop it from pre-loading the headset properly and If the headset is put together properly. In the right order and nothing missing.

Cheers, Fraser. a little more info might help to identify the problem a little easier, here's a few questions that might help you identify the issue. what headset are you using?. do you have all the components for the headset?, ie (wedges, dustcovers, crownrace,) depending on your headset. do you have the correct crown race on your forks?. is the steerer a few mm's below the top of the stem?. are the bearing's sound?. are the bearing's the right way up?. some pics might also help us identify the problem as well. hope that helps.
