Where Is Good To Ride In The South

Ok,

Myself and Pushbikerider quite enjoy leaving the confines of Reading at a weekend to go ride somewhere different. We have been to a few places in the last few months and found some good and not so good places, thought I might throw it out there to see where people ride often and reccomend going.

Usually if its just a days worth of riding we look for somewhere about 1.5 - 2 hours drive tops really.

The places we have ridden are:

Bristol - Good scene and places to session

Southampton - Was ok, not too familiar with the spots

Poole - Ok, good sea front walls and a skatepark but not a lot else

Portsmouth - Bits around the coastline, not a lot else

Brighton - Rubbish, rode around for ages and ended up playing on these half balls by the beach

Plymouth - Lovely long stretch of street furniture from the trainstation to the quay

So any more suggestions people??

If you've never been down to Portland and you like riding natural stuff then it would definitely be worth it. You can venture around The Bill where the rocks are a bit more jagged and natural, or around a few of the quarries when no one is working in them as there is tonnes of flat blocks of cut rock stacked about which are pretty good for playing about on.

WestBay, south coast - great natural and street

Portland, weymouth - Sick natural, both at the bill and in the quarries on weekends

Lyme Regis, south coast - cool street and natural. Good for an evening ride

Dartmoor - some of the best natural there is. too many spots to mention

Minions - quarry nr plymouth, pretty intense natural

Exmouth - great coastal natural, but has to be timed with the tides. Also some fun street

Teignmouth - really fun street, an afternoon-evenings worth of riding

Cligga head + Weal kitty, nr Perranporth - amazing varied riding on old tin mine foundations. See here

Plus many more Cornish spots that i'm still yet to hit myself

Went to Bill about a month ago actually as Olly (Pushbikerider) used to live in Weymouth so had a good day riding there (and drinks in Pikeys in the evening).

Which bit of exmouth natural do you mean? I've not really found much worth riding natural wise in Exmouth. Any google map co ords/maps?

Fair one, might be a case of the sand covering up some of the rocks? Was it the rocks on the right hand side as you look at the sea, more towards the estuary next to a slipway and a 90 degree bend in the road with the pub on the corner?

Or the other end down by the dead end and roundabout, past the lifeboat station?

Do you reckon it's worth starting a topic where riders can input good spots to ride in their local scenes as a reference for visiting riders??

If you do this I think you should have to upload a picture or pictures of the spot/location, as well as information about it.
