Smiffy-23
hey guys me and my brother are after an avid front disc brake and rather than spend about £50 each just for the front disc. The cheapest i have seen them for is £45 for a set and was wondering if a rear disc brake will fit on the front and would i have to change the adaptor??? isitafox
If I remember correctly the Avid disc brakes are universal and can be put on front or rear. Think you'll just need a new adaptor from somewhere like chainreaction. Edited May 10, 2011 by isitafox

isitafox
Yeah just depends on what size front disc you want to run with the caliper

Luke Rainbird
Just to throw in a general bit of info too in case anyone ends up finding this in the search at a later date; Almost all rear disc calipers can be run on the front without the need for any other adaptors etc, but will require a 20mm larger rotor (ie a rear 160mm brake will be a 180mm on the front)

Or does it not work backwards?
Matt Vandart
Indeed you can.
