dann2707
Hargen moor is it - something like that I can't remember either despite having a full convo about it today.
Ben Swales
Higgar Tor (not Harden Moor, which is somewhere else entirely).

Ben Swales
No, it's part of the Peak District national park (as are Stanage, Burgage, Padley, etc.) and has been designated an SSSI. As such it's covered by various by-laws, the relevant one being that no vehicles (inlcuding bicycles) are allowed on there, in order to try and preserve the natural landscape etc. and not have it churned up by tyres and the like. The park wardens patrol around and kick anyone in breach of these by-laws off. I had a long chat with one of them once and he said that he was aware that trials riders, who stick mostly to the rocks, don't churn up the soil etc., but couldn't let us on as it would set a precedent for other types of cyclist, motor bike riders, etc. He was a pretty nice guy, but another warden who kicked me off was much less friendly and even threatened to call the police when I asked what he wanted to take my name for (they take your details and sometimes photograph your bike and if you're caught up there more than a couple of times they fine you. Nothing a fake name and address can't sort out though ). Generally though, if you pick your time and spot well, you can avoid all this
N.Wood
Fair enough, makes sense to stop it getting turned into a shitty mud fest by motorbikes/landrovers. Meant to be the same on Dartmoor, but I've never been kicked off in about 5 years of riding there.
Ben Swales
Yeah, like I said, if you pick your time/spot wisely you can ride up there for hours. I've been kicked off three or four times, but that was on the busiest part at the busiest time of day so was to be expected really... dann2707
We should go one day in sand coloured ghillie suits, fabricate our bikes to suit the colour theme too. They'll never know
kyle-livesey
I ride there up there regulary and I've never been kicked off on a Saturday but Sunday I seems that's when the wardens patrol I did want to keep it on the low down after we found it a while ago so the wardens woudnt get wise to us but are well Tis a great place to ride though
Ben Swales
Believe it or not, you're not the first people to ride up there. I wouldn't worry about keeping it on the down low; like I said, in the 8+ years I've been riding there I've been kicked off three times.
