Nick In Action
Would this be a good bike to get started on? I see Ryan Leech riding the same looking bike but obviously upgraded. Thank you for reading.
Endohopper
Hey Nick - welcome to the riding absurdly small bikes off walls / rocks forum ! The Norco Havoc seems to be a pretty playful well built bike , but is intended more for the dirtjump / street crowd and it's a rarity for trials riders to use suspension . Sure , Mr.Leech rides trials on something like this ( to incredible effect ) but that's probably a mix of contractual obligation combined with the fact that he's absurdly talented and could probably win competitions ridin' a shopping trolley . Pretty specific question you posed though , you've been offered one ? You could certainly learn the basics on it and work on your balance and general bike handling , but the gearing and that sus fork will be a hindrance . Take a look through our bike pics subforum and you'll get an idea of prevalent types and configurations . Occasionally there are some killer deals to be had from our for sale section , too . Any riders in your area ?
Nick In Action
I don't know/seen of a single trials rider in the area. I had a specialized hardrock that I converted into a single gear and used that for awhile. But that bike didn't last long at all doing what I liked doing on it. What I like about the bikes Leech has is its still a bike. It can be sat on and riden through town looking for something to ride. And again it's still a bike that I could take into the skate park or hit some dirt jumps with. I haven't riden a actual trials designed bike before and maybe I just need to bite the bullet and get a real bike. thank you for your replay. good day

My pure trials bike rarely sees use , in favour of my playbike :
Matt Vandart
you want a Planet X Zebdi/Pashley/Hex or a 24 like above for that sorta riding.
Luke Rainbird
There also just so happens to be a killer deal on a Zebdi frame in the FS section at the mo, although the chap doesn't seem too keen to post the frame. Might be worth getting in touch though - he might be a little more willing to put the slight effort in to getting to the PO in exchange for some cold hard cash! Would be an excellent base to build a streety trials rig upon, or to transfer existing components to if you already have something remotely suitable

I've been looking at a lot of of the 20" mod bikes. They look like a lot of fun. I've never riden anything like them but I'm willing to bite that bullet and just get one and make it work. Unless someone talks me into something else . thanks again to you all, and beautiful bike there Endo!
