Sam T
thanks alot mate, by any chance would you know how much it would cost if he takes it to a professional welder ? Not sure. All i know is that Ali welders charge more. Best bet would be to go onto Thompson Local and look for a fabrication or engineering company within your area. Scott Gibbs
Make sure its TIG welded though dude. Most engineering frims will do it for sod all if its only a wee spot.
tmks88
prices are probably a bit different there but here its about 15EUR to weld a broken frame
wip-bikes
Yeh, get it too an engineering firm, but tell them not to get it too hot otherwise it will be weaker than it is already
dirt jumper jake
Yeh, get it too an engineering firm, but tell them not to get it too hot otherwise it will be weaker than it is already Needs to be hot enough though, other wise it wont hold very well. Best bet is to try and find someone who's experienced and knows what there doing. Tis what i did when my rockman cracked
wip-bikes
Ditto, however if it does get too hot it will need heat treating again. Ideally it would need doing again anyway but that would't be easy, well, it would if you had a MASSIVE oven lol
dave33
Basically any welding will be to much heat and heat treating would be needed, it will last a couple months prob, just will never be as strong! TIG is ur best bet
The Mechanic
Make sure that if the frame has only cracked that they drill the end of the cracks to stop it running, just welding it as is will allow the end of the crack to spread.
