peggysue
Just got hold of a new bike again and it has a bb7 on the front with avid organic pads .... They are ok but don't hold me that well on larger gaps to front etc . The disc and pads are fully worn in and not contaminated so I reckon it's down to the material . What's the best pads for pure lock and hold ?? Cheers guys
casualjoe
Organic pads offer the best performance, long downhill runs can cook the pads and ruin them. For trials they are the best material. When bedding the pads in, don't pull the lever too hard or the pads will glaze over and they will go crap. Gently pull the lever on and off so the pads lightly rub the rotor and you will feel them become much more grippy within 20 minutes of riding around. Your pads are probably glazed and will never be good again. Edited April 26, 2011 by casualjoe
peggysue
Yeah I've had a look at the pads and they are not glazed , just don't seem that powerful. A mate had the same bb7 and it was fricking awsome but he had the standard pads that came with it .... Can't work it out
Martin Direske
I've allways used the standard pads that came with the brake. I never had any issues or reasons to swap them, they're just powerful as nothing else even with the Roundagon rotor. Which rotor do you use? The standard Roundagon is ok but by far not as good as the G2! When I exchanged my roundagon with a G2 it was just like as if god put his finger on the brake and suddenly there was an increase of like 50% in locking power Also, mod or stock? Which size did your rotor come in? Edited April 26, 2011 by Martin Direske
