nb88
I have a Truvativ 73mm ISIS BB and trying to fit it into a fourplay frame (68mm). I have a 5mm spacer now, but the cup (non-driveside) sticks out quite a lot (around 10mm). I've put copper slip grease all over it, tightened it up as much as I can with a BB tool, but its fully tight. Should I buy a new BB / new cup, or is it OK to ride? Pics coming...Pics:
Ali C
are you using a spacer on the drive side? you should be and even then the non-drive side wont sit flush with the frame, it should have a large o-ring to go in the gap left, but it doesn't matter too much if you dont have it. nb88
Yep, I'm using a 5mm spacer but there is still a big gap on the non-drive side. BB is perfectly tight with no wobble. I'm going to build the bike up today anyway but might invest in a new BB to look nicer! Was just worried about stripped threads etc. as its a nearly-new frame! Jamie_Trials
I rode that BB in an Onza Master (also 68mm) and even though the threads were showing I didn't get and problems with it what so ever. If I had the money at the time fair enough, I'd of invested in a new BB, but you can live with it
nb88
Thanks. This BB was out of an ashton ET frame, but I can't remember if the threads were showing on that... I'll ride it for now anyway and just check its tight every ride.
nb88
Well the BB kept loosening off, on both sides. On the side of the BB it says 73mm shell - use spacer to the right 73mm shell w/e-type der. or chainguide - no spacer So i guess even with a 73mm frame it needs a spacer to fit properly, so I need extra spacers for a 68mm.
