As said definately chain first, then get some tryall tyres or maxxis, havent heard any reviews on them discs yet but cant see them being very good to be honest so worth considering going the maggy route or dual hopes...

Your judging a brake by its looks?

Tyres are just the standard Echo ones. Rear one is very good. (Y)

Very good for ice skateing........

I guess there not a definete upgrade strait away though. They will do.

But the chain is an upgrade strait away! Trialtech/KMC lite!

For a factory specced bike, that's one of the best I've ever seen in trials! There are loads of people getting into trials on these builds in China, good work Deng!

On topic: Tyres, as everyone else mentioned, though it isn't an immediate emergency. Something relatively cheap but grippier and better performing I'd suggest a Kenda SB8 up front and Monty Eagle Claw rear. Chain is very important though: KMC/Trialtech Z610HX upgrade without a doubt!

As an optional though, maybe ditch those 160s for 170s :P. It's personal pref, but at least for me the extra leverage and the general pedalling feel of 170s feels *a lot* better. I'm not particularly tall nor short but backwheel control and general two-wheel control feels more balanced and less cramped with my feet further apart.

Okay so upgrade the chain more than anything and just get ridding it. I've some nice big hills about so i can bed the discs in

Id say just ride them normally and let them bed in that way.

Dragging them heats them up, which on a closed system will alter the bite point and feel at the lever.

On a positive note, the TR disc brakes are meant to be pretty good.

Ive spoken to a few people and watched a few videos and they seem to be up to the job.

So far as I know, the initial bite of the brake is meant to be pretty good. The lever feel is pretty solid and the brake is responsive.

Hold, (as with any other brake) will increase as the pads bed in.

Bite point adjustment (TPA wheel on TR lever) is a handy feature, meaning as your pads wear out, you can maintain the same bite point at the lever.

Also, if you were to go and run a rear rim brake, you can buy the TR rim brake, which means matching lever units!

Anyone thought of trying to use magura hs33 05 bodys on the TR disc brakes?

4 finger lever = POWER.

I found that a little odd as well, I'm pretty sure the TR lever internals are the same size as Maguras so technically it wouldn't make much difference.

Now an SL lever on maggy slaves is a different matter, quality bit of brake there!

Do those TR discs just use a standard TR lever? If so could you just substitute that for a maggie lever or a SL one??

Ross ive seen so many new halflinks snap and i have snapped a fair few when testing them with not much pressure on them at all, you have been lucky replace it for one of the zx chains while you still have teeth.

Im putting a lot of power into my half link chain. It hasnt even stretched much. Its still running fine and smooth. Its outlasted a lot of chains I have used before! Even watch my new video on here. Im running a Half link in that. And I aint exactly holding back with it.

Personally I think its great due to the amount of adjustment it has. Personally Im gonna keep using half link chains. I kept all the bad criticism these chains had in mind when buying it. But since having i have not had a problem.

What, exactly the same as a normal chain with one half-link? I have no idea how you haven't managed to stretch your chain that much - every half-link I've used has stretched more than a normal link, and every half-link chain I've seen used has stretched significantly more than a normal chain. Their design means that they always will stretch more than a standard link so again I don't really understand how your's hasn't stretched much...

Which one are you using, out of interest? If it's a Shadow V2 chain that might explain it because they're the best ones out there, but they're still not as good as a standard chain with one half link in it.
