I would imagine once set up right though they would be just as awesome as on the front. They offer tons of hold over HS33's. Can be very bitey just depends on a grind and pads. I get bored of telling people but I run some cheapy red plaz take offs from eBay for £14 and they are so good! lots and lots of bite. Can get you the link if you want? They are much cheaper when/if they break due to the minimilised features. Also lighter. Only problem I've found is that I bought a fairly cheap cable and it does tend to stretch now and again. So I'd instantly uprate the cable (not sure what to though sure someonth will help on that front) if it does seem a little worse for wear. mr.tattoo
what do you mean by hold dude? i used linear cables on my bmx's etc there realy good and solid if you bash about. cheers
Sam T
Hold is basically how well the pads grip to your rim surface, and actually holds you on doing something off a curb to a 13ft drop. If a certain pad doesnt have enough hold then the rim would slip through the pads. Hope that makes sense?

Bigman
V brakes can be VERY good, I ran one on the rear for well over a year, they do not have the initial sharp bite that you would expect with a HS33 but the hold will far out perform a rear HS33, I am not exactly a small person and when running my rear V i was probably around the mid 19st mark! If you wanna see a rear V in action, have a ganders in my video thread I just put up, the last half of video 4 and all of video 4.5 and some of the CZAR vid was filmed with a rear V. If you do go to a rear V, a booster would be worth investing in, the brake will be very good without but the booster improves it even further! JD™
I think all types of brakes can be as good as any of the others when you set them up right. Make sure the arms are uber parallel and the springs are set right and you'll have a great brake. Buy the bike already and let's go ride! Matt Vandart
Vee brakes can be ultra win. I am currently running rockman blues on avid sd setup and a DEADasf**k grind and the bite and hold is awesome (cept in the wet). Linear slic cables are a must and I would go for deore arms as Avids get shit pretty quick, I am only running them till I run out of calipers and then I'm gonna go for deores.
