Kieran Morrison
Hey, just wondering how much it would cost if i was to design a mod frame on marino then buy it? I'm debating doing it but want to know how much it will be? cheers

JD™
It's 250 dollars plus 60 dollars delivery. I'd massively recommend him, except for the fact that the paint on mine falls off when I look at it strongly. f**k paint though, it still rides awesome. Ash-Kennard
i also have one, and am very pleased with it indeed, noticed they are welded and not brazed joints though which surprised my dad, but whatever, its cheap
Luke Rainbird
I was really impressed when I received mine. This was before the price hike/switch to cromo so cost me around £100 including shipping, which was absolutely phenomenal for a totally custom frame, but even at their current price it's a pretty cracking deal. JD, do you know what sort of weight your frame came in at? I've heard a figure of 2.2kg being thrown about for the cromo frames which is pretty sweet

And how would you order it if its in dollars? Use pounds and they convert it or what? Edited April 17, 2011 by Kieran Morrison
Luke Rainbird
$310 = £190ish. For the money transfer I used Xoom which was nice and easy. I'm not sure if Marino can offer any other options though.
JD™
I didn't weigh mine as a frame only, and haven't done so as a full bike either - I couldn't give two rounded lumps of fat on the front of a female to be honest. It was definitely heavier than my ES4 by a massive amount, but it rides much lighter... I paid by paypal, you just put in what you want to pay in dollars and it draws it out of your account in pounds. Simple simple. He quoted me 3 weeks delivery and it came in one, dunno whether that was a mistake on his part putting me in express or something but bear in mind it could take up to 3 weeks. Or more if you think of Little Yoshi on here... Only complaint for me (other than the paint, and I'm hardly being nice to it) is that the seat stays and chainstays don't quite line up - my tyre is close to rubbing the left seat stay while being equally close to rubbing the right chainstay. Perfectly rideable with a decent wheel build though!
Luke Rainbird
Haha, fair shout. Wasn't aware he used PayPal now, that's wicked! No issues with alignment at all this side
JD™
Don't get me wrong, I will weigh it, but mainly to give myself an excuse for being as good at riding a bike as a seal is. If not worse.

(I would email but I can't be bothered setting my email accounts up on my phone )
Martin Direske
Marinos are quite useable apart from some issues: 1)Stay away from gaps in locations other then the headtube! Both Marinos I rode cracked at those gaps especially in the tube that takes the seat post->Tell him not to cut these gaps into the frame. 2)Tube alignment is not made for suiting perfectionists' liking. Just as said above, my rear wheel allways used to tend to one side while being perfectly build and mounted. Especially Brake mounts could be not parellel as well.. 3)The headtube on some frames is not deep enough to take headsets like the FSA The Pig DH Pro. Just an issue occuring due to a desig-fail, since the headtube used to reduce its diameter after like 1cm inwards. I don't know whether these issues still exist since my Marinos were made before he changed his work. All in all every Marino I got was kind of a surprise since you never know what you get, but in the end everythings works out (I'm still on a Marino currently after selling my Inspired) Edited April 17, 2011 by Martin Direske

(I would email but I can't be bothered setting my email accounts up on my phone ) Every custom frame is tailored to the rider and i use only the best materials in my frames, this does not include cro-mo. My frames are also made to a 0.2mm tolerance on tube alignment, with all the threads / bearing interfaces being faced and reamed before shipping. Price wise, skys the limit. I will be more than happy to quote you on your specific needs Cheers

The mounts on my marino mod were shocking, couldnt get chain tension and aline them with the rim. other than that it was a good frame
