Martin Reynolds
Well after destroying my bottom bracket today with 5 minutes of riding Anyone else have a problem with onza ISIS bb's? Whats the best way to install a bottom bracket? with grease? dry? with the pre-installed lock tight? I had a problem with mine recently coming loose, which i re-tightened and it came loose again the next day. When i removed the bb, tartybikes had coated the threads in grease, so i cleaned it off and used superglue (did the job, didnt have any lock-tight at the time )
Azarathal
Clean the splines if secondhand and then locktite, then grease, then install. If new just grease it and leave the factory locktite on there.

dann2707
I've had my Cheapy onza isis BB for nearly a year now without any problems. My only issue is that it weighs a ton! You should install it with copper anti sieze grease and just tighten it up with the right tool and it shouldn't move.
Luke Rainbird
Isnt that kinda contradictive? using a thread lock AND a lubricant? Sort of. The threadlock will help it to be a snug fit in the frame without coming loose too easily while the grease will help it go in more easily, but often allows you to tighten things better than without it to get a more even fit. HOW tight should it be? a foot pound / nm figure would be awesome! Im always afraid to either not tighten it enough and have it screw up the threads, or overtighten it and screw up the threads
Shaun H
Sounds like your best bet would be getting the BB faced. Torqueing it correctly will help but if you do them up as tight as you dare then a BB generally won't loosen. EDIT: If those are aluminium cups on the bottom bracket then you should use copper grease, although it's of no great concern on a trials bike since most people change frames/cranks etc more often than other cycle disciplines. I thought he was going for locktite the BB threads and grease the splines... could be wrong though!
SamKidney
my onza Isis bb shat itself within two weeks. Driveside bearings disintegrated. Now running a trialtechs sport bb and have had no issues!
