BurlyBox
i need a new inner tube for my rear tyre and ive been looking for what size i need and i saw that the tyre said 20" and i thought it would be 19" as its a back tyre but i was then told it says that its 20" but its 19" and so i understood that. i then went to get my 19" inner tube and i thought i needed 20 x 2.5 as thats what my tyre said but then i saw this: "Designed to fit up to 20" x 2.6" tyre size (but labelled as 20x2.125)" i then started to wonder what size i needed as i dont wanna buy the wrong size here are the two innertubes im considering between: Monty 19/20" Echo 19" i was also wondering if someone could tell me which one is better to go for if they have any experience with them. to sum this all up, what size inner tube will i need for my 20" x 2.5" rear tyre? thanks, Jake. rorz
20 x 2.25 will fit fine, if your tyre says 20" a 20" tube will fit it. I know it's not one of your options but Slime make great tubes that repair from forn and simmilar punctures. They are also garented for 2 years (against the afformentioned), they are available from Halfords for 7 or 8.99. Rory
BurlyBox
ahh ok. i have a slime tube for both front and back on my mountain bike so i know theyre good but i'd rather get one of the two listed above as i thought they'd be more suitable for trials as theyre heavy duty ones. il have a look and decide on the innertubes in a bit. thanks. ForrestDump
I can’t comment on the Echo, however I have used the Monty tube on the back before with a 19" Try-All Stiky, worked well but I did get a few punctures, however this may have been down to my level of riding as I had it when I had just started learning. I'm now using a Kenda 19" DH which is brilliant, I think it's the fattest inner tube on Tarty's and I haven’t had any punctures when using it at all and I've been using it on the back for about a year now so it’s lasted quite a while too, well worth the money. BurlyBox
i saw that on there too but i was wondering if it would fit the tyre as it seemed so huge. also i havent even started riding yet so im expecting a fair few punctures :/ will that be ok with my size tyre? Well my Try-All Sticky 19" rear has a '2.5" rear profile' as stated on Tarty's, yes the Kenda is a fat tube but it fits my Try-All fine, just make sure you get the whole inner tube inside the tyre and not between it and the rim before you pump it up fully so make sure you check. So with a bit of work and fiddling about then yes the Kenda probably will fit your tyre.
BurlyBox
ok then. am i more likely to get punctures with that though as it is a larger size?
ForrestDump
Hum, I’m not sure on that one; I think it's down to how much pressure you're running in the inner tube rather the size of it. Less pressure will mean that the tyre will fold more around an object when landing on it, lower pressures also give a slower bounce when on the back, therefore a higher pressure inner tube, I think, is more likely to puncture due to it not being able fold around objects as easily when landing as a tyre with a lower pressure. BurlyBox
yeah, that would be right because i was on my mate's brother's bmx and went up a cerb (excuse my spelling) and didnt try jump it or anything and i was going bretty fast and it burst and he werent too happy with me.:L i ride all my bikes on a low pressure mainly because i cba to pump them up but i prefer low pressure anyway

Even though its a 19" tyre, the inner tube is good. it can take a real bashing, and feels nice and stable Edited April 9, 2011 by Martin Reynolds

Tarty notising they had two batches of Echo tubes was down to me Yeh, the echo's proberly the best one to get, the DH is a bit overkill
Tom Canham
Most of them will fit. I'm running a 24" tube from wilko's on the rear because they put it in a 20" box. Ive got a 19" wheel with a maxxis creepy crawler. Edited April 9, 2011 by Tom Canham
