Nick Manning
I was just browsing Chain Reaction Cycles and came across this hub with 120 engagements. It is made by Halo and has sealed bearing and a 120 tooth ratchet system. Sounds a bit like a king hub, as they use a ratchet drive for the engagements. But this has more engagements and is a lot cheaper. Obvious downside is that it is a quick release axle. But might be a good hub, cheaper than Hope Pro 2 too. Would be good to here if someone has tried it. I am happy with my front freewheel, but thought I would share with the forum.
Alex Dark
Chris King have a helical spline drive interface..not a ratchet. Ratchets are what typical freehubs ( hope pro2's ) and to my knowledge every freewheel.
J.KYDD
Am i right in thinking Ali C tried one a while ago? (like over a year ago) Could well be wrong though.
Luke Rainbird
There's more backlash before the hub picks up after freewheeling than Chris Kings, so in terms of the actual amount the freehub turns before the freewheel engages, the Supa Drive hub is not as much better as the 120 clicks to 72 clicks would suggest. The hub unlike most quick engagement hubs uses a 120 tooth ratchet rather than, say a 60 tooth and two sets of offset pawls or a 40 tooth and 3 sets of offset pawls, so if used for trials this will probably strip as the ratchet teeth are very small. One word of warning - The freehub body is aluminium Sounds like the extra few quid for a Pro2 would be a wise investment.
Southend Trials
Havent opened the link but.im guessing its the halo superdrive? Or the superstar hub.. either way these hubs are getting into ghe riding scene around here well kent penshurst, seen a couple of them and was quite impressed well worth the money! Although i they were being used by amateur riders so not really pushing their components to the limit.. well worth the money IMO..
