isitafox
Stop right there and do not pay them £70 to do it whatever you do! You'll be able to buy all the tools and bits you need for less than that and do it yourself!!

Thanks in advance costing me £70 at the local bike shop to get it all fitted so hope it's worth it I did the same thing on my phase i went online to superstar components they have the sprockets i use a 20t but if i were you go for the 18t its £10 for the sprockets and spacers, there brill too, i also bought the tensioner but a word of advise dont buy it, it doesnt work + you dont need it just take links out for your chain, its a bit tight but i works fine. I also bought the cassette tool for £5 i fitted the single speed kit my self, i saved a lot of money and i have had no problems with it at all, it was a great buy. isitafox
Just priced it up on tartybikes and a trialtech spacer kit, sprocket, atomz tensioner and icetoolz lockring remover will cost you just over £45. And if you've got a 22t front chainring then go for 18t on the back!

BradJohnson
Think I'll do it like that Any other recommendations welcome Do you use a half link ? Also how comes noone else recommends this? I dont use a half link i bought KMC white chain from ebay for a tenner, and i think no one recommends this because the chain is tight and people may think it will snap but ive had mine for 3 months now and its still fine. Mark W
It's because not running a tensioner entirely depends on your exact setup. I used to be able to run no tensioner on my old Fourplay with 23:17 gearing, but on my new Fourplay with 23:15 gearing I have to run a tensioner. It's not just a case of "I don't want to run a tensioner so I'm taking it off" - it depends on your frame/gearing/chain. People don't really recommend half-links because cheap, rubbish ones that people seem to mainly buy snap. If you get a decent one they can last a reasonable length of time. isitafox
And the main reason the setup I recommended was £45 was the chain tensioner

Spoke tensioner.best of both worlds? I just made one as i threaded the axle mount on my sts, which dmr replaced free i hasten to add, easy to make and really works, made mine first go as well.wasn't sure i'd trust it as seems to simple but had to ride before part turned up and not sure i'll change it back to the dmr tensioner now

What happens if the chain is just a wee bit slack ? I use metal washers, if the chains too slack it skips. Yeah i think it is a k hanger. What gear do you usually use for trials ? Scott Gibbs
If your after a half link chain, i,d reccomend the Shadow Conspiracy half link. I ran one for 3 years and beat the living shit out of it and it never failed.
