TrialsIsHard
Just a quick question, how good do you have to be to actually earn money from trials? world standard, Europe standard? should I get practising ?
Nick Manning
I don't think it is possible to make a living out of riding trials as competition rider, but I may be wrong. The only other way, would be to start up a company like Tartybikes or make bikes and parts, or do demo's, but you'll have to do loads of demos to be able to live off of what you earn. So the answer is pretty much no, you cannot make a living out of riding a trials bike.
bikeperson45
Danny Mac seems to be doing a pretty good job of it so far, but it does look unlikely. Maybe if someone's good/enthusiastic enough they could

Something like Danny Mac is doing with the Inspired Skye. hmm thanks
Aidan97
the only way is to probably get a sponsor
Ali C
no trials companies would pay a wage, so you would need to outsource a sponsor that has money. You can only make a living from comps if you are in the top three in the world, but even then some of them will do demos to get topped up. I am lucky in that I make a living from riding my bike and I do that by riding shows with The Clan. I do roughly 60-70 shows a year plus other things to help get money (last year I did an advert for Gatorade and did some coaching abroad). To get enough money to live you will probably have to have a different style to most people, I ride very streety and do flips and stuff in shows, this is quite family friendly and gets interest from people outside trials. bella
i dont think its very easy to make a living from trials riding. i dont think people get money from the sale of a signature frame i think its just they get there name out there. i have heard of a few people getting a small amount of money off sponsors but never enough to live on. the best way to earn money is with shows but there are already good riders out there with shows so business would be hard compeating against the relentless tour and the clan plus loads more you would have to be something special. Sub_Urbian
Well like people have already said Danny Mac has managed to do it. Giving up his job so that he could ride his bike for a living. In one of his videos he explained that he gets to do what he loves as a job now. But I think with Danny he managed to do it with luck, when he put his first video up he didn't expect it to take off like it did and from there it gained a lot of attention from the large sponsors. First of all sponsored with Tarty Bikes and now with Red Bull and Dig Deep clothing. The money he gets from the sponsors and shows is good enough for him to live but I'm guessing that things are limited. He does live in his camper after all I suppose it isn't impossible but it is hard and you have to be VERY good or unique at it and have luck on your side Also if you want to ride as a living then you probably won't be able to afford luxuries (big house, loads of tv's etc) But if your like me and riding is all your interested in then just give it your best shot!
