Hey!

I want to intstall Ubuntu onto my laptop for college purposes but I would like to run it along side Windows vista. Is it possible to run it as a virtual operating system or would I have to partition my hard drive and run it that way? And I would like some help with actually going about doing it if that is possible?

Thanks :)

You could download the live CD, boot ubuntu straight off it (wont touch your windows install)

Otherwise you should be able to download a ubuntu virtual machine image and run it in VMware on windows.

edit: vmware ubuntu image: http://chrysaor.info...s&filter=Ubuntu - you'll need to open that in VMware player.

Both much easier than partitioning your hard drive and dual booting (Y)
