Blake
Hello! as title says really, are isis stronger or square taper? I don't care which are better in performance, just what lasts longer I know square taper are cheaper and have less engagement points or something? but are isis worth the extra money? Cheers! sstein
isis have stronger axles and are less likely to round off square taper have bigger, longer lasting bearings and can generally be bodged if they do round off

Ali C
isis = stronger axles Square taper = stronger bearings bottom brackets don't have engagement points.
Matthew62
Or get up to speed with the mountain bike world and run a hollowtech type bottom bracket....? If my middleburns were ever to let me down i'd move on to something like Saint cranks. Just another option.
Blake
Sorry I didn't really mean engagement points ali something my friend once mentioned... so should I just get another square taper?
isitafox
If you can afford to buy new cranks as well as BB then I'd highly recommend the switch to ISIS.
JD™
This is something I've never got my head around. In far too many years of XC, followed by DH, then trials, then to DJ then back to trials, I've never ever snapped a BB axle. Maybe it's because I weigh about 3 stone, or maybe it's because I have an unnatural obsession with landing smoothly (which has limited me from going high or fast...), but I've never seen the point in moving away from square taper. This definitely isn't an opinion you should base your decision on, just mindless rambling.
Mark W
Stiffer, stronger, often lighter. ISIS = all good. Can get a relatively good setup for not much £'s too, in the scheme of things.
LukasMcNeal
One of the main things I noticed when switching from square to Isis was there was alot less flex and the power when kicking felt more solid.
Matt Vandart
That'll be because a hollow cylinder is stronger torsionally.
