Crazy Drummer
I have a set of Magura HS33 brakes which have top spec components, the problem is I cant get them to be any good . they are really spongy and I have (and my bike shop) bled them loads of times. if anyone has any idea about how I could get them to be as good as they should be, could you please help. thanks There spec: - Echo TR 2011 levers - Goodridge Braided hoses and fittings - Magura cylinders - Echo SL cylinder washers - Adamant Offset Magura Mounts - Atomz HS33 pads - Filed brake mounts, so clamps sit flush - Bled with Magura royal blue fluid
Revolver
Air might be trapped somewhere that doesn't come out when bled normally. Proper blast the fluid through with the syringe. Also maybe squeeze the lever in and then push fluid in as you release it, so it fills up with fluid. The air is almost certainly in the lever. Thanks for the comment, i have tried blasting the fluid through, where could it be getting trapped though? One thing I have noticed is that the front brake has fluid coming out from somewhere but I cant find were.
jacksnell95
you should use revolver's bath bleed with water as water feels so much nicer than oil as water is a thinner liquid
Crazy Drummer
i have been thinking about doing a water bath bleed with abit of anti freeze in the mix,
Sam T
Are you running a booster? Flexy frames make your brake feel very spongey?
King C
One thing I have noticed is that the front brake has fluid coming out from somewhere but I cant find were. That'll be why.
Crazy Drummer
Are you running a booster? Flexy frames make your brake feel very spongey? Yes, echo 4 bolt on the rear and my forks have built in one That'll be why. that would explain the front one, but not the rear one
siede.
try water w. anti freeze. You will also find the leakage easier(water has a smaller viscosity)... worth the try!
AdamR28
My guess is that your bike shop hasn't bled them correctly. The Goodridge stuff is very tricky to bleed. If you can move the lever blade before the pads start to move, then take them back and get them to do it again
Revolver
where could it be getting trapped though? In the lever, read my post again, it tells you another tip for this problem.

siontyrex
i also think the hoses may be te problem you'll need normal hoses and you may only use this stuf for the rear crossover
dundy9
had the same problem with echo tr 2011 lever body. what i found out works best is to take the lever off the bike with the cable still attached and if you can make some sort of stand or jig so that the bleed screw is pointing up. bleed your brake as normal and when you take the bleed tube of the lever push a little bit more fluid through the system to get rid of any bubbles in the lever body then tighten the grub screw up and away you go. i bled my brakes 7 times before i realised this bled it with the bleed screw point up and worked perfect first time.
