Themistoklidis
Hey fellow bikers, I recently bought a pair of inspired element forks and i noticed that the headtube inner diameter is way smaller than my old forks(onza zoot)So i went to my lbs and showed them the forks.I was stunned when they told me that i cant find a starnut that small anywere in the greek bike market. There are no forks with such a small headtube hole diameter...What can i do?Can anyone tell me the size of the starnut required for this fork? Can i open the diameter so it can fit bigger starnuts?Or it will compromise the strenght of the forks? isitafox
Will a small starnut from Tartybikes not fit??
Mikee
Etiher the small or medium of these http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/headset_spares/tartybikes_star_nut/c57p10541.html will fit. Not sure which one exactly, but i'm sure someone will tell you for sure which one. EDIT: Just noticed your from Greece. If the postage price and time is not worth buying just a star nut on it's own, Then a headlock system like this could be a good solution if you can get one locally. Or you could make one from a long treaded bar with a top cap and nut on each end. Edited March 15, 2011 by Mikee
Scott Gibbs
What your after is a starnut for a 1" steerer tube. Im sure with a couple of phone calls to nearby bike shops you'll be able to track one down. I have one in my echo forks as it has a thick walled steerer tube aswell. Sam T
If all else fails, run a headlock.
Scott Gibbs
If all else fails, run a headlock. Duh i'd forgotten all about headlocks!
Revolver
A headlock might not work. The steerer tube might taper inside to the bottom, if it does it'll be too narrow at the bottom to fit a headlock.
