Confidence In Doing Things To Front

Yo, recently ive found i have no confidence in doing things to front, like upto fronts and gap to fronts, i never used to be like it and all of a sudden got a bit scared of doing them, got to the point where i just yank on the brakes at the last minute. bit i really do struggle with at the moment is the little hop into upto fronts, so without sounding anymore of a tit, can anyone help me please?

My advice would be to start off with the basics again. Practising doing up to fronts or gap to fronts on something small that you feel confident on. When you start to get the feel for things again maybe move up onto something bigger. (Y)

I've found with 'proper trials' it's really a case of just getting your confidence up enough to 'man up' or whatever and give it a shot.

I'm a massive pussy with hopping off stuff. I'm more than happy to pedal at a 4ft wall and hop up/into it, but as soon as it comes to bunnyhopping off stuff I take a one way ticket to BrownTown. Seriously, it's ridiculous. I'll roll off stuff/drop it static fine, but a bunny off pretty much anything makes my sphincter quiver.

Need to get back on a proper bike so I can play with them again really; never gonna get toboggans down without getting over it!

Sidehops is the over thing i cant bring myself to do, anything around bar height i just put my leg down :S

@Jake

Eliminate the little hop?

Do it from further away?

I think it is pretty hard to hurt yourself on up to fronts, gap to fronts is a different matter.

On a related note, I think my forks are gonna snap soon :(

Tried to eliminate the little hop, and i just found myself riding into walls doing some sort of retarded hook thing haha

Try Doing it With out the hop in! Just try jump straight to front wheel!

Here Is a video That may help :D

On the approach to the wall it looks like you do a half pedel stroke to lift your front then a hop, is this right, also im guessing you dont touch your braks till you about to land?

Is it easier to learn on a higher wall rather than say a few pallets.

Sorry for the thread hijack jake.

I'm not sure I think i do a (full pedal stroke) to get my front wheel up I think It gives you more time to get you weight forward, Yes brake just as about to land!

I learnt how to do it by going to both wheels first and landing no brake and just rolling on the wall! @ 0:30 and 1:34 in this Video

To front in this video @ 0:20 and 1:34 you can see the run up better!

Hope this helps :D
