ForrestDump
I tend to go with skate shoes like Emerica's or Lakai's. It has taken me a while to find the best shoes for my riding as I like my shoes to have a thick sole to stop pains in my feet caused by pins, but also a nice bit of flex around the pedals. I found that Nike 6.0’s (which a lot of BMXers use) are nice and grippy but they didn’t give the flex I was looking for. Just takes a bit of shopping around to find what you want, but skate shoes are a good place to start and are cheaper than most bike specific shoes. Zetec S
To be honest I dont notice any difference in makes of skate shoe, but globe DC's Nikes and Reebooks have all served me well.
Jake Beach
Nike 6.0's are good, thinish soles so you can feel the pedals, but dont make your feet hurt. They seen grippier than my 510s to. Edited March 12, 2011 by Jake Beach
Aidan97
I wear a pair of cheap walking shoes, there grippy and comfortable.

MadManMike
Personal preference really dude, I find I walk around in Converse style shoes but only ride in DC skate style shoes. For me I need a fairly flexible sole but thick as well so my feet don't hurt, skate shoes tend to be the perfect balance. That said, a few years ago I worse "Reebok classic" style Nike's and they were comfy... I personally don't think trials-specific shoes are needed, but I'm no expert so don't take my advice as gospel
isitafox
Found my Nike 6.0's do the job pretty well currently
iamtheferryman
Cheers for the info guys thinking about getting some freeride shoes as they would be good for my downhill pursuits as well james
skidmark
iv been riding in vans for the last few months and theyve been on downhill bikes and trials and iv not slipped off the pedals once. i find that vans have a soft sole inside aswell which provides comfort and padding. with other shoes iv found that the pins on the pedals shred the bottoms of my shoes but iv not had this problem with vans. number 1 shoe in my opinion. Ali C
five tens get the vote from me, super grippy, comfy and come in a high, medium or low cut. I have a pair of Vans too, but they are so slippery I don't dare ride in them.

Crazy Drummer
Hi mate, I personal prefer the Shimano AM40 MTB Shoes (the ones Danny Mac uses). They have a plate under the soul you can swap, one makes the shoe ridged with little flex and the other flexible like a normal skate shoe. They are also cheaper than the five tens. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31537
Luke Dunstan
When people are on about pains in the feet, are talking about an aching sort of pain in the mid sole? I love using old school running shoes for grip and flexibility of the sole, but they really ache after about 30 mins.
siontyrex
nike 6.0 is the shoe that has loads of grip and great wear recistance i have ridden with try-all shoes but they are verry expencive and you will need a new pair every 3-4 months orso
Nezz
IMO i would have to say five ten sam hill shoes are the best you feel locked on the bike love um but they do come with a little bit of a price tag
dmiller403
Rumor is nike ended production of their bike shoe line. I had the shimanno am40 as a beginner, and wouldnt reccomend them because they wear fast while taking your feet off the pedals, especially with threaded studs. I now use the shimanno am41's they are slightly slimmer width wise dont come with the insert. But i took the insert from my am 40's to make the ultimate shoe. And they have the same traction disign as the am 40's Edited March 28, 2011 by dmiller403
lewis_clark20
Hi, i would say the best shoes i have ridden in are my try all shoes. nice and comfy. i have had them for a few years now and are still in one piece. they are pretty flexible and have no recognizable tread on the bottom but they grip on the rock i ride on.
