isitafox
I've just bought a new Bionic mod frame and which has bash plate mounts and wondered if I'd benefit anything by switching from my current bashring setup to a bashplate or if it's a bad idea?? I'm not too fussed on the weight side of things as the frame is gonna be a good 500g lighter than my current one but I was concerned about the possibility of the frame cracking if I do run one, and if not will I find myself bashing the rubber mount on the bottom all the time?? SamKidney
Bashring for sure. Ive always ran one since I started and dont think I would change. Ive seen numerous Mounts crack, plates snap and mounting bolts snap with a bash plate setup.. Bashring is defo win in my opinion. Looks neater, its lighter, and protects your freewheel from sideways knocks, that a plate doesn't
CalopS
Having run both and rode street and comps I think the only advantage of running a bash plate is to young riders in comps who need it to get onto objects. With them been so young and light it doesn't damage the bike and its in the rules that you can use it so I don't see a problem in them taking advantage of it. For uci or street just a bash ring is definitely better
isitafox
Will stick with just a ring then, only be for messing about on the streets with anyway. Looking forward to it arriving and getting it built up as it's got identical geo to a Fans so should be pretty fun to ride!
SamKidney
Good looking frames too. If only speedrace kept the original Fans
