forteh
Exploded my rear wheel this afternoon and after a bit of advice from the more advanced wheel builders, particularly mr tart 3 spokes snapped at the head simultaneously and turned my rim (32hole dx32 with 18mm drillings) into a good resembalance of a pringle, a section was bent sideways by about 2" I guess the spokes went because I had them too tight, no major issue, just something to watch out for in future. With regards to the rim, after unlacing, its pulled pretty straight again, perhaps 2-3mm out when placed against a flat surface; is this likely to cause me issues when rebuilding? Im guessing nothing too major but as this is the first time this has happened to me then its still a bit unknown. Will be ordering some new spokes and nipples from the tart tomorrow all being well, planning on using alloy nipples, any specific hints for not stripping/rounding them? Will be using a park spoke key so that hopefully shouldnt be an issue With the last build I always had issues with the drive side spokes being a touch too long, so much so that the spokes were pushing out against the rim tape but the rim was central to the frame. That was using the 265/266mm spokes recommended, pretty sure I didnt get them the wrong way round though, hub is a king discgotech but all the dimensions appear to be the same as the classic? Any other advice will be much appreciated
Ben John - Hynes
I've always built my wheels and a lot of the rims that I've built have been fairly buggered but theyve always turned out pretty bang on as long as you take your time building. So with a good build it'll sort itself out.

Ive always built mine before but Ive never done it with a rim thats previously been pringled (although straightened itself), this is the first wheel Ive actually broken in 17 years of riding bikes like a retard
