rab shropshire
they doo tak a bit of time to get a decent bleed but it will come good eventually after you have bled it hold it up by the lever and tap all hoses and bits and pieces to allow any air to travel upwards to the lever and bleed again

gary-mac
Have you tried leaving the grub screw in but just have it slightly loose. Put bike on side and push the water/oil through from bottom, when you think its spot on tighten the grub screw but keep pressure on syringe. AdamR28
Take the piston out and look inside the cylinder. Take note of where the bleed port is. You have to orientate the lever differently to an HS33 to get a good bleed, once you know the position of the outlet it's easy.
Greetings
They aren't any more difficult to bleed than any other brake. You need to set the brake at such an angle so that the air flows in the same direction as the brake fluid when you're filling it up (the same applies to every brake). If you're bleeding it from the brake lever, the hose connecting the master cylinder to the slave should be at the highest point of the lever. Same applies to slaves, angle them so that they're pointing downwards at a 20deg angle. edit: Found a pic of the way I set SL brakes for bleeding: This is slightly incorrect, the slaves should be pointing down. But the brake lever is at the right angle. Edited March 6, 2011 by Greetings
i like cunning stunts
So bath bled it this morning and it went perfect, out all day today an hour in the ride leakage out the slaves so i had to rebleed using a kit and oil and it seems ok now just not as nice as a maggy with a water bleed so i am going to put the maggy slaves on this echo lever with a water bleed and see how i get on with it at shipley next week. SamKidney
Echo SL brake + maggie slaves = win. More inwards adjustability with maggie slaves
