Greetings
Full build of one of Deng's super cheap bikes. Haven't had the time to bed the front brake in, besides I shouldn't because this isn't really mine. Annoyingly wasn't sent a single Echo rotor so had to make do with an Accent for the mean time. Going to test this brake on my bike soon with a 200mm Hope rotor. Initial feel of the brake is pretty good, very solid. It's also weird to set up. It needs to be set up like a mechanical brake but you've got to remember that both pads move. Not easy. The lever is in fact a TR rim brake lever. multi tasking male
where can i find echos disk brakes ? they look spot on and the bike looks good chris
Ali C
you sure it's the same lever as a Tr? 14mm piston instead of the usual 9mm = sodd all power.
Greetings
Echo disc brakes won't be available separately for quite a while. Ali the pistons are 14mm and around 25mm. That gives a mechanical advantage of 6.3:1. Nice locking pin arrangement:
Ali C
hmm, not a great mechanical advantage then (compared with the mono trials at least) unless the pads are something special I can't imagine it being powerful at all.
Greetings
Well I'm going to give it a try on my bike as soon as I have the time to build up a disc wheel. It'd be pretty gay if it was a weak brake, after all it is designed for trials...

I'm with Ali, that sounds absolute shit on paper! God knows why they didn't just copy the Hope lever?!

Greetings
I have an opinion on the brake It feels very responsive and very solid. It's got lots of modulation, little bite and quite a lot of hold. Actually it has much more hold than you'd expect from the way it slows you down, which is adequate. I was going to get a Hope but I'm going to stick with this brake for the time being.
MadManMike
Looks clean and simple mate, very nice - no unnecessary stuff on there I'm going to be buying a "normal" bike soon, but all the pics in this sub-forum are making me want a trials bike again for the summer! Any news on this or is it still in the design process?
kaybs41282
Nice but why the death chain? At the risk of asking a stupid question why do you call them death chains? I'm new to trials and the bike I have bought has one of these on (half link chains are they called?), should I be replacing it? Sorry to deviate from the topic slightly! Half link chains arent as strong as normal full link chains because the side plates try to straighten out when load is applied to them, through work hardening they snap where the plates are kinked. General consensus is to avoid them like the plague, although alot of people do use a single half link in a normal chain in order to make certain gear ratios work.
