Dan6061 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Share Posted March 2, 2011 When building my Neon up again with a new spec, I chose DOB Magnesium rims front and rear. As I fitted my Monty tyre to the rear one, it was very hard to fit! The last bit of the bead finally slipped on with a 'bang!' and it turned out my tyre lever had punched a hole in the inner wall. Oops! So today, I take the front wheel out to fix a puncture. Have a look at the rim, and spot this: Crap! My mission to build the bike with a nice light spec' didn't exactly go to plan! I guess I tightened the spokes a bit too much, which is an amateur mistake I know. Not really any point to this thread really. Just shows that being a weight-fag isn't always the best option. ForrestDump Posted March 2, 2011 Report Share Posted March 2, 2011 That’s crazy, I would have thought a trials rim would be able to undertake the force used to put a tyre, but here I'm proved wrong, I gather you won’t be going down the magnesium rims route again after this.
