Matthew62
Unlucky there. I see that you have an Inspired. Have you painted it yourself or is it a stock colour? Either your camera is dodgy beyond belief and your white balance way off - or you have chosen a very nice colour. Any full bike pics? gary-mac
yesterday after chucking myself over a stair set in Derby city center this happened. (the bb was only 5 months old) not that makes much difference. very lucky that it didn't put me in hospital so back to M12 steel for me. just thought i would share. typical from titainium!! doesn't bend or twist it just breaks, not a fan of titainium parts that take lots of stress and wait. would hate to use pedals with ti axles, asking for trouble if your into big street stuff with drops. i tried ti bolts in magura 4bolts, did a gap to front then bang! The bolt heads snapped clean off. Edited March 2, 2011 by gary-mac
Greetings
I'm guessing that the Ti used in bike parts (well at least the ones used in trials) is not of the best quality. And yet again I'm so happy to be a smooth rider who doesn't go big. No such problems, just SL forks which snap occasionally
dirt jumper jake
Ti is fine if your not a basher or ride like a pregnant gorrilla on crack.

forteh
I'm guessing that the Ti used in bike parts (well at least the ones used in trials) is not of the best quality. Well in theory its 6al4v which has a yield stress of about twice that of the chromoly typically used in bottom bracket spindles, might be worth sending it back to tarty for warranty seeing as its not even 6 months old! As garymac said though, titanium will tend to go with a bang rather than stretch and bend like steel, the yield and ultimate stresses are pretty close. Ti is fine if your not a basher or ride like a pregnant gorrilla on crack. go big or go home! = Ti bb destroyed. nothing todo with riding like a "pregnant gorrilla on crack" although this probably would produce the same outcome as for the color of the bike its a factory color and will post pics soon so you can have a little look at her
Ali C
I personally wouldn't want to be using a ti isis bb for anything street related, forces are different from pure trialsy stuff which they are fine for.

Matthew62
Oh i see. In the BB image it looks really pale. Still a nice looking bike and i like the way you've stickered the headtube.
Greetings
Well in theory its 6al4v Yeah I'm not saying that the alloy is wrong but perhaps the quality isn't the best. For example - 221Ti cranks (6061) which for me at least have outlasted any 7075 cranks I used in terms of spline strength. After 4 years of use they were still so tight that I couldn't screw them down properly. In my opinion that's a case of a very high quality, properly forged alloy. IMO try-all stuff also has that sort of machining quality but the designs let them down... the BB bent through normal use (no big drops or street stuff) and the freewheel lasted 4 months (and that was when i was half as good as i am now)
