Dawes Kovert

Hi. I only use my Dawes Kovert on the street now, but it's very slow because of the gear ratios and the fat knobleys. I was wondering if it's worth changing the tyres and gears. I only use the 3 or 4 of the fastest gears. It's got 7 cogs on the wheel and 2 on the crank. Or should i just get a new bike? Any advise would be welcome, like 'what tyres' or 'how to do the gears'. Thanks :S

Possibly the most random post I've read in a long time!

You'll have to provide a bit more info like how long you've been riding (sorry if you've covered that in another thread!) and what do you plan on doing with the bike? Are you going to buy a trials specific bike at any point in the future or are you just trying to see if you'd be any good and if it'd be worth it??

Thanks for the quick reply. I used to go dirt jumping with my son but he's 14 and too cool to hang around with Dad now. So i'll mostly be just riding the streets maybe doing a bit of small dirt jumping. I'm only a novice so i wont be doing anything extreme. I love the bike but it's too slow on the road.

Well if it's dirt jumping your after then your in completely the wrong place I'm afraid! If however you want to modify the bike to do some street trials then it'd be a different matter, and if your son has sacked you off cause your too uncool I highly recommend joing the other later in life trialsers that have suddenly sprung up onto the forum and show your son up!
