Sam T
Hi guys, Anybody made a truing stand out a old set of forks orr whatever? If so, please post a picture and how you did it. Need something that will be good for having very percise wheel builds. Cheers, Sam,
jt123
I found the best way is to use your frame if it has maggie mounts. Find 2 pieces of dowel (sp?) that fit into your maggie clamps and screw a screw into each piece of dowel. It works brilliantly but I havn't got a picture of it sorry bud. charliemod
Couldn't you just like put the started wheel build in to the forks on your bike and tape a ruler or anything straight on to them. then look between the rim and ruler? Its easier Edited February 24, 2011 by charliemod
forteh
Just put a stiff zip tie round your fork leg, you can adjust and trim it to build a very straight wheel
manuel
Just put a stiff zip tie round your fork leg, you can adjust and trim it to build a very straight wheel Id go with 2 zip ties - one for left right that touches the rim on the braking surface for left right, and one slightly longer above for up down. Having said that I bought a truing stand (a cheap one a while back) just because its convenient for front and rear wheels and it came with a dishing tool/checker thing which is very useful.
