Aidan97
a strange clicking noise has started coming from around the chain area. I tightened the chain up and oiled around the freewheel and it has worked abit but it is still clicking. also the bearings in the pedals aren't the best so im not sure whether it could be that aswell. Jamie_Trials
Freewheels click Grease the pedal threads, crank tapers and bottom bracket. Also, check your chainline, it can sometimes be poor chain alignment so it catches the cogs on the sprocket. More details on the type of click could help us pinpoint what it's most likely to be. stewie87
try eliminating where the noise is coming from dude, noises are always hard to find on bikes, try spinning the cranks without using the pedals so you can eliminate the pedals at least after that remove the wheel and listen closely to the wheel bearings for any noises and then swap over onto the freewheel, and do the same basically check everything dude, hope it helped,

Hmmm, take the crank off, shove tones of grease on the taper, put it back on. Make sure it's tight as hell and it should do the trick. Is it a low pitched creak after the crank reaches a certain point in it's turn?

pengsmelly
no its just random but ill just have to check tomorrow thanks. If its not a low pitch, or happens at certain point in a whole crank spin, then I think it could be your pedals, but without actually hearin gthe sound its difficult for me to say. However, random with a slightly high sounding click, is generally your pedals. The noise will be the bearings in them. Putting WD40 is not what you want to do, as this is actually a de-greaser. It may get rid of the noise a little bit, but will later come back again. You want to be able to get into the bearings and grease them. But rememeber not all pedals are possible to seperate every part.
