Themistoklidis
Hey guys today while i was changing my bb a friend of mine tried to put the bb on the frame but he didnt line it up (im not sure thats the phrase?)and as a result the frame ended up with 1/4 thread of the left side thread almost striped. Is there any way i can fix this?(maybe i can bolt something like a full threaded bb like thing through the shell to fix the messed up threads?)The frame is an inspired fourplay 2011. Thanks in advance...

Thanks in advance... Take it to a local bike store and see if they have a bottom bracket tap, then ask them to chase the threads, should be fine then . Josh. Rob Leech
Thanks for the fast reply! What do you mean by chase the threads? Will it need helicoiling? ? Nope, chasing is just putting a tap through the old threads, will basically clean the thread and get it back (near enough) to how it was . Josh. sstein
It really depends on how bad it is, but if only 1/4 of the thread is damaged then you should be fine with just getting it chased as has been said.
Themistoklidis
Its not that bad,the damage is about 0.70-1 cm width. So,when its fixed by chasing the threads, will it be ok,or the frame will be prone to damages after the repair? Thanks.

Thanks. It should be fine. Chasing is not a repair by the way, it is just cleaning up the threads, you will still have damaged threads but the shell should still be useable
Themistoklidis
It should be fine. Chasing is not a repair by the way, it is just cleaning up the threads, you will still have damaged threads but the shell should still be useable I measured the damaged threads and its 5mm.But if there are damaged threads after the cleaning, how is the bb going to be screwed in the shell? rhythm_101
if it's only 5mm it will be fine, like everyone said, just take it to your local bikeshop, get them to pass a bb tap, and to fit the bb, and it'll be fine! just keep an eye on it to see if it unscrews it's self.
