MontySamba
Hi everyone, I'm bored so I thought I'd ask everyone what is the most ridiculous weight saving technique that they know of. I've heard of people stripping the paint from the spokes!!
Ben John - Hynes
If you don't want this to turn into a stupid thread then change the title.

Greetings
Ridiculous but not stupid - sandblasting frame and forks. It's used to make cars lighter, don't see why it wouldn't work with bikes.
Rob.
shaver+body hair = smoother/lighter Loads of weighs to save weight: cut nobs of your tyres grind rims new rim tape paint stripper lighter parts
Jamie_Trials
Take dust-caps off. Strip paint. Put holes in stuff. Take teeth off sprockets. Remove pawls from freewheels. Take pins out of pedals Take spokes out. Sand down inner-tubes till they're really thin. Just normal stuff, you know, as you do......

Twitch-119
While it's kind of on the subject, anyone see the new lightest bike in the world? Got shown it at work today, like 2.6kg or thereabouts, I'd find a link but I can't, sorry

aener
un-needed fingers I've cut a finger off. Do NOT do it. Secondly - saving weight on the rider is vastly different to saving weight on the bike. Much less useful.
Miles Mallinson
Steve peat rode his world champ bike with, 3 rotor bolts in each wheel, and had all the paint off his hubs and rims, smaller rotors, replaced all the grease with light oil. Loads of titanium aswell.
Gaz96
Im not into all this weight saving yet but just an idea, would filling your innertubes with hydrogen or helium work rather than air?
