MPfive
I know there is a lot of talk about the best pads to use,but what are the best set of 4 bolt brake mount for HS33's. On my Monty 20" I run standard Magura mounts on the front which work fine, but on the back are the weird offset magura mounts that clip together at one end. I heard that the tensile mounts were not up to the job,but what are the best mounts about today?
isitafox
Has it got 4 bolt mounts on the rear or just V mounts cause it sounds like your explaining the evo brake mount for V frames
Guest
It sounds like you plastic clip has worn, been pinched too hard. Get hold of some metal ones from Tartybikes. Best thing yet! Best bolts to use steel, alloy snap too easy and the gold colored Monty ones are made of cheese. I used the Echo SL's and i liked them, soild, easy setup

i like cunning stunts
Tnns are the best and easiest to use, with them you dont need the plastic washers you are using now the clamps just clamp the cylinder. I have to order some as my echo sl ones have just snapped they are awful and they are £40, the tnns are £22.

Ali C
only good if your brake mounts are straight and you don't use an angled sidewalled rim

Read his 1st post. He says they go off angle, it's an old bike, it's Monty, i'd say more than likely thats the problem his 4 bolt mounts are old and past it. Groves from the bolt in the moutning section and the plastic which is soft has been gouged up. You might not of used the std plastic clip in ages but they are a pig even new. The metal shim i found so much better, even they are fiderly to fit new as it's 2 halfs soon as you get it covered with the clamp and 1 bolt in lose fitting it's easy to sort it out. ogre
do they look like these? or these? if they look like the former you've got vee mounts and are probably better using a vee brake, if they look like the latter then you have 4 bolt mounts and should invest in some mounts that don't let you have any adjustment like these or or these... otherwise you can modify your existing mounts my filing them down...
