Has anyone got an idea how i can create my own themes for my Nokia N8 [symbian^3]. I'd like to alteast give it a try, but i have no idea where to start. In the end it also must be packed into ".sis" file. No idea how to do both of it. Can't find any tutorial either. [perhaps i'm searching wrong]

Sure someone of you will know how to achieve it? x)

Thx

hope there arent too many typos here. Having a bad day with typing..

I am user of Nokia N8 and I also want to know the technique to create my own theme for my n8 and my search resulted in finding this site www11.ownskin.com which allows registered user to download or make their own themes. its an online theme creator which supports Nokia Symbian S60, S40 and Sony Ericsson and many other models. You can download the theme for the phone and install on your phone.

Below steps to make your own Nokia Theme that has to be followed:-

>>Go to OwnSkin and create a username for you. Signup and then login.

>>Select The type of skin, which will be according to the type of Nokia Phone you have.

>>Select an Image and crop to a particular size.

>>Select an Image for the active background, which will show in the menu item.

>>Go to advance settings to change the contrast of background, choose another image for the clock and battery.

>>Enter the information about the skin and choose if you want to share it or keep it private.

>>Download and Install the skin.

Hope it will help you.

Quick question- do you guys actually like your N8's? My GF has one and compared to my Wildfire I hate it (and she's not exactly impressed by it). The OS seems restrictive, clumsy and under developed and there seems to be nowhere near as many good (free) apps available for it. She really regrets getting it over a Galaxy S or similar but I'm open to suggestions to improve things...

Well, I actually liked the colour(s), design and camera a lot and had the chance of getting it for a pretty good deal^^

The Os really is a bit, erm, condusing and strange-ish, but it actually doesen't bother me that much. Just has to work well as a phone (and as a camera^^) ;)

Software-wise, the N8 (in fact, symbian as a whole) pales in comparison to things like Android or even iOS, especially when you look at apps. The app markets tends to be very divergent, with brand specific app stores, as opposed to having a centralised app store akin to Android Marketplace and the App Store.

In comparison, I find Symbian comes out as a bit clunky and nowhere near a smooth and sleek as iOS or Android either.

Hardware wise though, it's pretty strong. Obviously the camera is a marketed strong point, and in addition the screen is very nice as well - for those people wanting to watch videos it makes a very nice display being an LED screen, it scores well for colour, brightness, contrast and viewing angles.

Disregarding applications, as a phone, it comes together as a good device, just maybe not as fun and as interactive as Android - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people want a straight forward, out of your face phone that remain to be top of the range, and for that niche, phones like the N8 fall in nicely.
