As the title says, in your opinion ..do you think TGS is getting more popular amongst trials riders these days?

Past few days i've seen more TGS threads coming up on how to get the perfect set up for side hops etc ..do you think its becoming more and more popular?

opinions please ;D :$

I actually think the reverse is true.

With the growing popularity in 24'' bikes and street based 26''s i think there has been a return to the golden age in trials. I thinkk TGS had its peak a couple of years ago and it isn't what it once was.

On a recent London ride of about 10 riders or so i was pleased to say all but two were on 24'' bikes and the two that did have 26''ers had street set-ups.

It was a beautiful moment.

I just don't get where the sense of fun is... You do a 48" sidehop - is doing a 49" so monumentally better that you get a genuine rush of adrenaline?

To me excitement comes from completing a line of moves, maybe throwing some stuff in on the way, or bunnyhopping up, over or across something as smooth as possible - trying to keep momentum at all times. I get annoyed if i have to stop, jeff on the brakes or do something static.

TGS to me is the epitome of everything i do not want to be.

At the end of the day, its what you enjoy doing. Danny mac wouldn't want to ride damon watsons style riding, and damon wouldn't want to ride like danny.

I just prefer the TGS style, i think it could relect your personality though as when it comes to trials i like to be a bit of a show off if posable, and i like to think people would think 'wow' just like i did at other people when i was young, and still do at people like danny, neil and damon.

Well, in my country (slovakia) most trials riders are competition riders which isnt really my cup of tea. I like competitions but iam not really into it :).

I cant say i like street trials or tgs, i like both of them very much. I want to go bigger every ride but i also want to be smooth and do some lines.....

The best style for me is just riding bike and enjoying it :turned:

no it isnt, but when yore trying to get to that certain height others consider sick, its satisfying

or

when you kick off a 12 ft wall over a spikey council fence over a road, landing and ur bike creaks to the very limit, knowing youre pushin it, thats THE buzz

also people seem to think tgs riders dont do anything else, like i often get branded as a tgs rider, although in my riding i try to create new concepts and tech it up were possible.

The simple fact is tgs isnt in 2006 anymore, wer not all editing our vids slo mo to an inflames song with black and white scenes allover the shop. Its moved on and people should realise that, so yeh im a 'tgs' rider but that doesnt mean i dont like riding balance lines, long lines, french techniques, and so on :)

rant over

just something i wanted to say cos i often get slated for being a 1 trick pony as do many

Videos are still exactly like that. Trials must be one of the worst sports for filming quality. Much like the riding, it's all boring, static shit (the video that is). What i mean is to me it reflects the riding that is being portrayed.

Trials is never filmed like BMX videos (except for certain videos such as 'Way Back Home' etc) and it really bores me to tears.

I don't think anyone is really considering you in this debate as obviously you ain't your average rider, but many, many, many f**king kids will only literally do the T, the G and the S and it's this breed if rider i don't get.

Have you got a link to your latest vid? Not sure I've it.

Much like the reason I haven't put out a 'proper' vid, (as well as my own reason of having no skill) I'd imagine that's something to do with not wanting to produce something as sub standard as most other people do.

How is that relevant? I have seen many videos which i do not like so therefore i can comment on them in terms of their quality and framing choices. Having not publicly posted a video doesn't make me unable to have an opinion.

Want to be any more defensive or are you finished?

If you think all trials vids are boring, static shit how about you make an interesting, dynamic vid for us all to enjoy?
