Wingerz
Recently bought a trialtech Race ISISbb from tarty bikes, I greased up the threads and fitted it but the non-drive side cup was really stiff to get all the way in. Now on the bike theres a dodgy grinding sound coming from the bb area and you can feel it vibrating the cranks. Is this just the bottom bracket bedding in? Any help would be great. Cheers in advance, Henry.
Miles Mallinson
If it was really stiff to put the drive side in you shouldn't of really gone ahead with fitting it, take it out and check the threads Edited February 8, 2011 by Milo123
onza1
I had this problem took me a few weeks to sort out check that you chain Isnt hitting the frame causing the cranks to andsprocket to vibrate
Dan6061
Bottom brackets don't have to bed in. Did you clean up the threads in the BB shell before fitting? Are the crank tapers/splines clean? - Usualy trapped dirt inbetween the crank and BB can cause nasty noises.
Wingerz
The chain definitely isn't hitting the frame, I did give the threads a quick clean just with abit of kitchen paper. Tomorrow I'l take on the bottom bracket give the threads a good clean with an old tooth bursh to make sure all the dirts out, grease it up and put the bb back on and hopefuly that will have solved the problem. Cheers for the help.
Dan6061
Good plan, which should've been done in the first place. Don't forget to check/clean the crank splines and BB axle too. I never bother to grease them, as dirt just sticks to the grease and you go back to square one!
