Trials Park Help

Trying to get the local council to give us permission to use a bit of unused land/park to set up a small trials park for the local riders. I am asking for nothing else so hoped it would be easier!! I am now getting the standard we cant help because of insurance liabilty. They did offer to look at something out of town, so the riders all still at school would have to ride along country roads with no paths or verges to any proposed sites. ( higher risk potential?) I did ask what is the difference between the token skate park they build or the swing park in the same park insurance wise, but have had no reply.

I need anybody who has had help/permission from their local council to set something up, so I can take it to them and push it.

Thanks in advance hopefully, or perhaps we do live in a country that is passed the point of no return with the ah*les that run it.

I'm looking into doing the same thing, how did you put it to them in the first place.

I'm kind of stumped on what to say.

Hi Stuie,

Em local councillor and then he put me in touch with someone in the council that was head of something who put me in touch with someone else who is in charge of something else, who gave it to one of her minions who sent me an non comital piece of sh%t em. (good luck withit as they are a complete bunch of overpaid underworked AH who will just chuck the liability em at you when you hassle them to much) One of the local council workers who is in charge of cycling in our small hamlet is doing something with the local bike shop on it now but it is going no where fast. They even have budget to promote and help cycling but heho. I have spoken with the local police to let them no I am trying to help get the riders of the street to help the situation before one of them gets their bike taken of them and an asbo chucked at them.

I think your best bet is to find a bit of disused land far away enough from the not in my back yard brigade and just get on with it. I have tried the official route as a courtesy but getting nowhere. Although Lochaber Highland council are very pro active and I believe have given the riders a small fund to get something going and permission from a private piece of disussed land.

Good luck and I hope you get somewhere. It maybe just where I live. Was wanting some replies so I can chuck it at them and go to the local papers to put them on a spot.
