isitafox
I've got hold of a Der Kaiser cheap (cheers Rob) and I know it ain't gonna fit in my frame as the tryall thats currently there is tight as f**k already, so it's gonna need trimming down beforehand. Has anyone done this before and if so have you got any tips other than use a sharp blade and don't cut yourself?? Gonna be one of my missions on nights at work this week when my new stand arrives! CalopS
I used wire cutters when doing my Monty tire. It was a lot faster than a blade and hot water.
Mikee
I had to cut abit off all the side nobbles off to get a tyre to fit in my frame just 2 days ago. What I did was use some old cable cutting pliers. It did make it abit untidy looking but it was very quick.

LukasMcNeal
Possibly it could be okay because say it's a 2.4 continentals usually come up smaller if you get me?
i like cunning stunts
Possibly it could be okay because say it's a 2.4 continentals usually come up smaller if you get me? Smaller? Thought it was the opposite with contis.
Revolver
Possibly it could be okay because say it's a 2.4 continentals usually come up smaller if you get me? I think all these new sick conti tyres have the problem of being tight fitting.
isitafox
Going off the measurements on Tartybikes, says the Der Kaiser will come up about 4mm wider which is gonna be more than enough to cause me some aggro!! Gutted cause I'm so happy with my Because Simple but it's little things like this that let it down!
Luke Dunstan
Smaller? Thought it was the opposite with contis. It is, they're measured in a slightly different way from what I've heard.

Gutted cause I'm so happy with my Because Simple but it's little things like this that let it down! To be fair, there are quite a few frames that the Der Kaisers don't fit in. Just one of the problems you get with massive tyres and tiny chainstay lengths.
forteh
[smugmode] Ive got about 15-20mm tyre clearance either side with my rain king [/smugmode] In the past Ive used a large pair of endcutters to snip of tyre knobs.

ginger allen echo
Depending on how much you want to take off an angle grinder is good to use, I would advise using a rounded off blunt disk because a sharp disk will just cut straight into the tyre.
