SamGill3571
Hi I recently bought a bb bracket tool off tarty bikes to remove the bb, i put the tool in the vice and fastend it tight. I then bolted my T-Pro frame on the tool so it wouldnt move. I used the frame as lever to twist off the BB but because the spline teeth on the BB were old and worn they sheered completly thus leaving smooth shiny metal. Has anyone had the same problem ? please could someone help/guide me in the right direction ?. Hope this doesnt confuse but the square bracket is out but the casing is still in if you know what i mean . Regards ,

Regards , You have to remove the left side first!!!! non drive side! both sides thread off forwards, so put the tool in the splines of the bb and turn towards the front of the bike on both sides. Left side then right.

rab shropshire
pretty much yes, so is the actual bb still in the frame or is it just the cup, and is the cup plastic or metal

rab shropshire
the only thing i can suggest is cutting a bit of a notch in the cup and using a screwdriver and hammer to tap it round, then out. but be very carefull not to damage your bb threads

SamGill3571
No good, the metal is soft so the screwdriver justs takes a lump off , tried heating it after too but made no differance
dann2707
Hey is there no movement at all when the tool is in? Could see if you can get any WD40 or whatever down the threads just to loosen it up and might give way a bit easier than with complete friction. It's been sat around ages as well hasn't it. craigjames
I had this problem with a BB a few months ago. I resorted to carefully taking a hacksaw to the BB cup and cutting it in 3 or 4 places, then you can use a hammer and screw driver to prise the BB inwards when it should hopefully split into pieces and fall out. It's a tricky one as you can damage the threads, but get the chased through at a shop and it shouldn't make any difference.
Guest
What frame is it again? I'll be honest, your pretty screwed! I had something not that much different happen. I resorted to beating the BB from the non drive, this somehow made it come lose and i was able to unscrew it and nothing was broken. What you could do is beat the spindel from the drive side so it falls out, yes you BB is worthless now. Then use some mold grips, get a really tight solid grip on the lip/inside of the BB cup, your going to need a blow torch. Mapp gas is best, 1800c, use the tip of the flame heat the BB shell, sorry your going to have burnt paint on the frame. Providing it was fitted with grease it'll smoke no end, get it nice and hot. WD40 or GT85, from a safe distance as possible blast as much of it into the threads. Hammer the mold grips in the direction to undo the BB cup. It's a messy process and may be need to do it 3/5 times to get some movement. Hopefully your aluminum frame will expand with the heat more than what the hopefully steel bb cup will. The wd40 or gt85 will added some lube in freeing it all up, penertraiting the bond, freeing it all up. Failing that there are other means which are more drastic and high tech!
