AJ9604
How good are these in comparison to the hope trials rotor for the front and rear of a mod as I'm looking to save weight? Cheers AJ Edited February 9, 2011 by AJ9604
Filo
Flexxxxy. They feel terrible when gapping to front.I've seen a few people collapse similar rotors

Rob L
ive found mine to b absolute quality mate and better braking performance too
AJ9604
Its sounding a bit hit and miss whether its worth me getting some
Mark W
Interesting how selective some people are when refering to things they've broken. Might be more useful for people to hear the actual condition of things prior to them breaking so they can get a clearer idea about how strong things are, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story I guess.
AJ9604
Ok so I have come to the conclusion that i might change from my 180 mono rotors to the 160 Rockman superlight rotors, so will I loose braking power, hold and bite or will i be best sticking with the bigger mono rotors? I really like the feel, power and hold of my brake now but want save a load of weight as then I can remove my +20 adaptors and put smaller lighter rotors on. AJ9604
anyone with any advice on this Edited February 9, 2011 by AJ9604
AdamR28
For the few grams weight saving, stick with the original Mono Trial rotor, the braking performance is better.
AJ9604
how much difference in power between the 160 and 180 rotors then?
AdamR28
12.5% theoretically.
Laurence--Trials
Is that with all rotors? and with every 20mm there is 12.5% more power?
AJ9604
mmmmmm now the question is will the 160s be enough? I don't really want my brake slipping
AdamR28
It is the radius of the rotor that determines it's leverage around the hub (and thus braking power), so going from 180 to 200 is ~11% increase in power (the ratio between 90 and 100mm). What bike is this for exactly?
Mark W
Then it'd probably not really be worth going to a rotor that - even if it was the same size - wouldn't really offer the same bite/hold as your Mono Trial, but instead is going to be even worse because it's a size smaller. Matt Vandart
Just stick with mono trial? 160mm is well big enough for a mod I would say.
AJ9604
Its for my gu-st mod, I just don't want to lose the hold I have on my 180's but would like smaller rotors so I can save weight
CalopS
I dont think you will notice the difference in weight really. Ive got a Rockman on the back and a Hope on the front and the Hope give a much nicer lever feel and better hold. Going to be getting a Hope for the back as soon as I can afford it. AJ9604
I am running adaptors and 180 rotors so will loose a bit more than just the rotor size plus they will be more out of the way
Greetings
12.5% theoretically. Might be worth mentioning that 12.5% is a big difference
Revolver
I am running adaptors and 180 rotors so will loose a bit more than just the rotor size plus they will be more out of the way Well, it seems as though people have given advice and you're still adamant about doing it, so do it and find out for yourself. AJ9604
I am very grateful for all the advice and have taken it all in. I have decided not to sacrifice the power for the weight at the minute and at a later date put the smaller discs on to try it out and see how I get on. Cheers for all the help guys, AJ
