Blake
Hello, I have two problems with my rear brake set up. To start with, the pad that's on the drive side won't reach the rim even if I press the cylinder all the way in, is this just a case of getting new, thicker pads? Second of all, when I set up by brake pads to be square, when I tighten the top bolt it moves the cylinder so the pad is on an angle again, very annoying. Brake still works and holds me, but it's not square and I guess it could just be better. . . . THANKS!

You might have the same problem as me, the bolts that came with my booster are just slightly too long so the clamps won't tighten up enough. Blake
I have a magura hs33 rim brake, on the back of an onza t pro 2007 with standard magura clamps
isitafox
How old are your pads and what rims are you using? It may be worth ordering a new set of pads and some different magura clamps, heatsinks have a lot of material on them brand new, I have them on the rear of my mod and have to have the cylinders set as far out as possible and they're still really close! Al_Fel
A new set of cylinder washers can help setting your brake up square. These bad boys.
isitafox
A new set of cylinder washers can help setting your brake up square. These bad boys. Just realised that myself, your current washer has probably been shaped by the clamps so everytime you tighten them up the clamps just sit into the groove in the plastic making them move. I've got a couple of spare sets from some brand new HS11's I bought that have never been fitted, can drop you a pair in the post if you wanna pay me postage?? Blake
Yeah I might take those washers actually I was planning on getting onza citrus, good idea?
isitafox
Couldn't comment as I've never used them, only ever used Magura koolstops (which were good back in the day but pap now), heatsink yellows (which I find great except on a smooth rim in the wet) and TNN LGM's which are also great on a grind. If you want the washers gift Paypal me £1 to dbarratt6@aol.com and PM your address and I'll post a pair out tomorrow after work!
Blake
Might have to pay you tomorrow so I can tell my dad you don't have to send them until i've paid if you don't want to.

charliemod
Re bleed your brake really good to make sure the pads push out enough to touch the rim easily. (sometimes you will find the bleed is just amazing and will touch the rim on fully loose tpa with ease) For the cylinders moving, I'd try get the washer nice and central to the clamps and make sure they have full contact with the claps. I had the same problems with my brake and I did the above^^ and it is now fine.
