Change Crank Guard To Left Handed

Crutchy

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've bought a Knoxx Hydroxx 26in.

The bash guard on the chainring side of the crank is set up for leading with your right foot, but being left handed my lead foot is my left.

I'm sure that you must be able to turn this around. The cranks looked like old fashioned cranks, but a crank extractor doesn't fit.

Please can someone advise?

Many thanks

James

Remove cranks, loosen freewheel/sprocket, twist bash gaurd to desired position, tighten freewheel/sprocket, re-fit cranks, DONE

If it's a hydroxx then chances are it'll be running some pretty standard trials cranks. If you could pop up a picture or two we'd be able to let you know what cranks they are and confirm that it's a normal tool (almost certainly will be) (Y)

Edit;

Just a thought, are you using a square or ISIS extractor?

That's most likely the source of your problem I'd have thought. If it's a normal one then it is possible to chuck a couple of 5p coins in there to stop the tool just sitting inside the BB axle, though a proper tool is, of course, preferable !

5p's actually work better, my isis adaptor end for my extractor used to get stuck in the cranks, the 5p's don't, haha.
