Hi, in need of some help.

Not sure if been cought last night?

Right I was in a 40zone, booted my bike up to about 70 odd mph, there was a 4x4 vehical that said THINK on the side of it, I went past it, then it was behind me when I was slowing down from 70 to 40, but I didnt get pulled over? then my mate booted it past in his car, and he got pulled by that vehical 50yards away from where it happend, But unsure if It had got me?

but if it did it would of pulled me over first and not my mate?

Help?

70mph in a 40 zone? You probably deserved it, so here's hoping you got snapped ;)

Today I laughed at people booting it at 80mph through 50 limits on the M1, but slowing for the average speed check cameras. Evidently the concept of an average speed is lost on these individuals. Although I'm not entirely convinced they even dish out tickets at 60mph...

They probably don't have time to pull the speeders every time so no doubt you'll get a letter in the post within 21 days (i think it's some time frame like that).

yeh and he may not of pulled you because in reality would a van be able to keep up with a motorbike?and the likely hood of a bike gunning it away is quite high so why would they even attempt it in a box on wheels

Not allowed to pursue bikes round here, can attempt to pull them, but if they gun it they just get the the helicopter out.

Utter bollocks, if you can't control your speed then you shouldn't be on the road.

Yes I have my fun on the road but admit to doing so, but time and a place mate.

They (meaning their stupid computer system) do dish out NIP's for 60 - I had one for 61 in a 50 on the M6 roadworks. I disputed it as it was rush hour and I wasn't speeding. Never heard anything more.

As long as you've not changed the registered keepers address with the DVLA (eg just bought it, or moved house) if you don't get a NIP in the post within 14 days, there shouldn't be any further action.

Oh should be ok then, I just wasnt sure why they pulled him and not me yet it was following right be hind me, and then my mate went passed the car and me and they pulled him insted? It should of been me pulled not him though?

As for keeping up, yes the 4x4 would of kept up with me as I had no where els to go, as was headin to traffic lights that was going red. so either way it would of pulled me after them.

Might want to re-consider the bike you're riding then?

I find it hard to believe you can't tell the difference between 70 and 40 without looking at the speedo.

Yeah only only the fact: 1st gear open throttle 6thou rev into 2nd then I reakized what I was doing so I slowed it down as I knew it was wrong.

If your on a bike which does 70 in 1st gear at 6k revs then your virtually lifting the front wheel until you change into 2nd..... You knew you were speeding, you don't do that by accident.

If you get caught you deserve it, and could lose your licence. If you didn't then your lucky and should learn to ride your bike properly.

If they pulled your mate and not you, do you not think your speed (and probably noise) alerted them and they couldn't react fast enough to get you, but were ready for your mate?

I thought it was 28 days they could contact you in?? Also if you were 'pinged but not pulled' you may still get the penalty

Not really about the speed, but if you were gunning it, you've amplified the point. Those camera vans aren't subtle. If you didn't notice that, were doing 70mph, in what sounds like residential area (they don't put lights in the countryside), what else could you have missed? Oil slick? Child? Football? Someone opening a car door? Pothole? Broken glass?

That last one - odd story. crossing the road behind a car that was pulling away, the bmw span its wheels a little (just a lil too much throttle) and threw a small shower of glass/sharp stones at me and my mate, giving him a puncture and me lots of little cuts on my shins. was like being sand blasted P

Again bollocks, If your bike does 70 at 6k in first then what speed will it be doing in 15k in first?

Just accept that you are an idiot, on the road and at covering your back in this story.

I read it as he went into 2nd around 6k, then probably went up to 70 in second. I think he said the bike is capable of 70 in first...

Either way, it's not very responsible but I'm sure most people have done silly things on the road - it usually takes an accident or close shave to knock sense into someone, unfortunately some people don't survive that first accident...
