Hi Does anyone here recomend running a v-brake on the front or magura

And also if any of you guys are running a v-brake on the rear what set up are you using what lever what calipers and pads

Im running a v-brake on the rear at the moment which is ok and my magura is in need of a service so just wondered to disc, sort the magura or buy a new v-brake setup

Thanks for the help Howard

My fave setup is:

Avid SD7 lever (light and has useful speed dial adjustment (I used it all the time))

Shimano LX arms (non linkage type, they are light, stiff, have strong hardwear (no snapped pins on these) and are slim so are easier to use with wider rims)

Shimano SP5 cable (I just WONT use anything else, nothing comes close! It is oversized gear cable that can be bought in 7meter lengths so can be cut exactly to length, it doesn't compress and is the smoothest cable I have ever tried)

I used the Neon adaptors with no issues, but for the ultimate solution I drilled and tapped the lower 4-bolt mount to accept an M8 vee brake post. It kinda ruined the frame for magura use, but it is the lightest, stiffest and best fitting solution for a vee.

I also use TNN vee brake pads, these are pretty much the slimmest and best performing pads out, highly recommended!

I also recommend using a booster even if the brake is plenty stiff enough already, a booster will improve the holding power of the brake ten fold, the best being the Shimano XTR carbon and the Slasa carbon but both are pretty rare.

As for the front brake, I recommend a vee over a magura.

A Vee is more adjustable, more powerful, lighter and vee forks don't snap as easily as magura forks.

Everything here except i use heatsink adaptors and a shimano XTR lever.
