Ear Stretching

From personal experience all it causes is pain, and leaves you with a gaping hole in your ear lobe that looks horrific. I started stretching mine about 5-6 years ago, and through that time i've lost count of the amount of infections and problems I've had, including nearly getting toxic shock. The biggest my ear went to was 39mm,

Basically I stretched too fast, and when this one went in, it cut the blood supply off to the bottom of my ear, which meant that the flesh started to die, it left me with a small amount of skin hanging on the bottom.

I went to see a plastic surgeon, which cost me £250 just for a consultation, and he quoted me a price of £2,500 for one ear lobe, and £3,500 for both. Needless to say, I'm not going to pay that.

Its one of those things that are stupidly self inflicted, but can still get you really down.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences, or know somebody in a similar situation, and can share some ideas or has any advice.

These are just my opinions.

I think we're hitting a time now when they're on their way out of fashion. I know someone out where who's taken his out in hopes that they're going to shrink back up but it looks pretty bleak, and to be honest they're pretty noticeable.

Least it's going to secure the jobs of plastic surgeons for the foreseeable future.

Mine shrunk a bit...

Before.

After.

I've grown my hair long a few times to cover it up, but in the summer long hair is not wise.

A friend of mine, a well known modification artist, has seen a noteable increase of business due to ear reconstructions.

He's been receiving daily requests for the last couple of years.

To the OP, if you want your ears sorted out by an experience practitioner drop me a message and I'll give you his details and website.

I'm afraid I'm not prepared to post a link on this board as a lot of modificaiton falls outside the realms of UK law.

A few years back I was in Camden and this women gave me a card for a French bloke from a circus who comes to the UK twice a year and does the work at your home, needless to say I passed on the offer.

I'll PM you now.

Eww this has kind of put me off getting one now. Although my Parents said they are dis-owning me if I got it done anyway.

That looks awful and I feel for a few of my mates for when they are going to have to remove theirs :giggle:

Job done, DON'T get it done!!! It ruins a lot more than looks.

They're fine if you keep them at a reasonable size. I've got an 8mm(which obviously is no where near as extreme as yours) in which starts shrinking as soon as i take it out to clean.

I know it might never fully close, but i knew that when i got it done, i haven't regretted it once since i had it and plan on keeping it for a long time yet (job allowing) .

If people are getting them done just for fashion and to try and look cool rather than because they 100% want one, then they deserve to be stuck with it.

With respect, how old are you?

21, first had it done second year of college.

Okay, well 8mm will close up pretty easily. My right ear was 26mm and it's a lot less noticeable.

If you have an interview or something along those lines, take them out a few days before and they'l shrink more than you'd think, and stretch up again within a day or two.

I've noticed a lot of kids these days with little stretchers in their ears. And it always makes me want to scream at them because I know what a mistake it is and how it can really affect your life.

To be fair to the 'kids these days', not everyone goes out with the intention of completely f*cking their earlobes to the extremes you've been to, some of us have a little foresight. If you didn't realise stretching your ears as big as possible, as fast as possible was going to cause you problems then quite frankly, you're an idiot :ermm:

Stretched mine up when I was 18 or 19, finally settled at 18mm (which I know won't heal but it's not going to leave me with disaster lobes like yours) and I'm still perfectly happy with them at 25 :)

I have a mate who did the same as you but actually had his snap at the bottom, not sure what he's done about it... Similarly I've heard of people have them snap and just get the 2 dangly bits pierced

Mate of mine could fit a cellotape roll into his ear (cardboard tube bit), one day, the skin just pinged and now he has 2 dangly bits of skin.

They ruin your ears and make you look daft. Not worth it just to try an look 'cool'

As I said, 5-6 years ago. So maybe I was an idiot.

At that age, the future isn't a massive problem, living for the here and now.

ive had mine at near 50mm and it almost shrinks to nothing if left but i stretched it properly slowly. nearly everyone i no rushes and causes scar tissue hence it doesnt go back fully and your left with "the bum hole" affect  we all do stuff we regret in life but its part of life so i dont let it get me down. if your gona stretch then do it properly or as with anything in life it can go wrong. we are all diferent and our bodies react diff to stuff.

What do people see in this? No offence but i think it looks shite! I can understand a good tattoo and many have a meaning. But stretching your ear I don't think is aestetically pleasing!

I think 9/10 tattoos look shite. Different strokes for different folks.

Can't they stitch the 2 parts together and chop off the excess to create a more normal looking lobe? Or is that what the plastic surgeon would have done and charged dollar for?

The plastic surgeon would have done that pretty much, he said he was going to cut a lightening bolt into both sides and stitch like a puzzle piece.

I know, I used to think it looked awesome. As time goes on and you grow up (24 nearly) you realise you were a complete tool.

It looks gross, and girls won't want to play with you.

What's a reason to get them done that isn't to do with them looking cool and them being in fassion. :ermm:

Wow, what's with the hostility?

"the bum hole" affect

If you're bumhole looks like a stretched out ear lobe I question your sexuality.
