Matt Vandart
Can someone please outline the difference between the two?
monkeyseemonkeydo
Fourplay has 4 bolt mounts, Element has V-mounts. Only other difference I'm aware of is with the shifter cable guides. Fourplay has them, Element doesn't.
Matt Vandart
Thanks dude, I been talking to John (Shrewsbury) and he explained it for me, sounds good, think I might just go for an element.
Laurence--Trials
they have slightly different geo's too
Miles Mallinson
Isn't the element just the older geo fourplay with v brake mounts
bikeperson45
they have slightly different geo's too 5mm difference on the chainstays, but that's it. Seems to just come down to vees or Maguras. Although the Element comes in that really swanky yellow.
Scott Gibbs
Mk 1 fourplay had a 1035mm wheelbase and a +35mm BB Mk 2 fourplay & element has a 1020mm wheelbase and a +20mm BB
Miles Mallinson
Mk 1 fourplay had a 1035mm wheelbase and a +35mm BB Mk 2 fourplay & element has a 1020mm wheelbase and a +20mm BB Oh yeh i was thinking of the dropouts, they used alot of the same parts from the first fourplay I think. Matthew62
The Element uses a lot of the older Fourplay parts such as the headtube, dropouts, BB yoke etc so isn't that why it's a touch cheaper? Obviously the new Fourplay has redesigned parts for all of those araeas and 4 bolt mounts (and slightly different geo) hence why it's a bit more..... If you want V's i'd go for the Element - the yellow is awesome and i like the Element type better than that of the new Fourplay.
monkeyseemonkeydo
Ah, sorry- didn't realise the geometry had been tweaked slightly. I thought the updated geometry was only on the 2011 frames.
Matthew62
The Element is a 2011 frame though, no?
Mark W
T'is indeed.
monkeyseemonkeydo
The Element is a 2011 frame though, no? It is a 2011 frame but there's the Fourplay (mk1) which is still available, Element and Fourplay 2011. I was assuming that Matt was talking about the Fourplay (mk1) versus the Element rather than the (Fourplay) 2011. Does that make sense?! TrialsMan Dan
doesnt the new fourplay frames have disk only and no magura mounts?
Mark W
Full bike = disc only frame. Frame only = 4-bolt and disc.
John Shrewsbury
The element......................................is a sweet ride.
